Food Gleaners Clean Up In Westmoreland County

Although vegetable harvesting is done for the season a Westmoreland County farmer allowed a non-profit to go through their fields and grab parts of the crop that the harvesters didn’t pick up. According to the Virginia Farm Bureau a group from Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Prince William County picked several bushels of corn in what’s called a gleaning process. A Richmond County food bank also conducts gleaning operations helping to save fresh produce from being plowed under.
