A new year means a new leader for the Westmoreland Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Darryl Fisher, who has been the board’s chairman for many, many years…. about 18 to be exact… has been replaced by Woody Hynson. Fisher said he was happy to pass the gavel on to the next chair as he leaves the county in the best position it’s been in recent memory. During his tenure, Westmoreland County has achieved a double-A bond rating. It now has three sewer systems, an industrial park, a judicial center, the Northern Neck Regional Jail, the Westmoreland County Baseball complex, the Westmoreland Medical Center, and the A.T. Johnson Health Services building. There is also now a museum, there have been a lot of road projects and improvements, we now have a paid EMS transition service, and a brand new high school.
