Fireworks In Jeopardy

The future of Urbanna’s Fourth of July fireworks is uncertain as the usual launch site faces insurance issues. Urbanna Town Administrator Ted Costin reported to the town council that the Rosegill property, traditionally used for the fireworks, lacks insurance coverage for such events. To overcome this hurdle, discussions are underway to utilize a barge anchored in the water as an alternative launch platform. However, logistical challenges, including the need for a large barge and a tugboat to maneuver it, complicate the solution. Despite the setback, an Ohio-based company is willing to facilitate the fireworks display from a barge, if all the necessary requirements can be met.
