The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry reports fatal work-related accidents in Virginia dropped sharply in 2020 from its peak a year earlier. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch there were 118 work-related fatalities in 2020. Close to 53,000 non-fatal injuries and illnesses occurred that year which translates to just over 2 cases for every 100 full-time equivalent workers. The figure does not include COVID-19 cases.
