Essex Nixes Development Plan

With a vote of 3 to 1, the Essex County Board of Supervisors denied a rezoning request that would have created a mixed-use development at Brays Fork. The application was submitted for the project called Essex Point at Mt. Clement, and it would have involved a little more than 13 acres next to James River Equipment and the LaGrange Industrial Park. The applicants sought the rezoning from B-1 Business to Planned United Development to accommodate the project. The final vote came after the county’s Planning Commission recommended denial of the request. An issue concerning the private roads was a concern.
