The Essex History Museum is presenting an exhibit called “Pirates of the Rappahannock” beginning Aug. 20. Curator David Jett and Ella Gould, a Museum intern from St. Margaret’s, combed historical documents in search of pirates who navigated the Chesapeake, the rivers and tributaries of Virginia’s Eastern coast. The exhibit has 3 components: Pirates of the Rappahannock; Blackbeard in Virginia, and Government Pirates or “Privateers.”
