Essex County Memorial Day Observance To Honor Native Son

The Memorial Day observance in Essex County is May 29 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the vicinity of the Essex County War Memorial located on the courthouse green on Cross Street. Participants and attendees are asked to bring their own seating. This year’s ceremony will honor Essex County native son Lance Corporal Richard Everett Barrett, USMC, who was killed when Marine Barracks Beirut was blown up in October 1983.
