Dominion Asks For Rate Hike To Cover Fuel Costs

Dominion Energy is asking the State Corporation Commission for permission to impose a 7% rate hike because of increasing fuel prices. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch the utility says without the increase ratepayers could be paying a larger amount down the road. Virginia’s regulated utilities are allowed by law to recover all money used to buy fuel to run power plants. The hike would be about $9 a month for the average customer.
