Cussing Sign Sale To Raise Money In Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach’s iconic “no-cursing” signs, retired in 2019, will soon see new life as part of a fundraiser for police-related charitable programs. The Virginia Beach Police Foundation plans to auction or raffle off up to 30 of the signs later this year. Originally introduced in the early 1990s to help control rowdy behavior in the Oceanfront area, the signs symbolize a bygone era of efforts to maintain the city’s family-friendly atmosphere. Proceeds from the sign sale will go toward supporting initiatives like K-9 ballistic resistance vests and aiding law enforcement personnel in times of crisis.
