Colonial Beach Master Plan To Affect Park Improvements

Colonial Beach is working toward creating or improving its parks and is now working on a master plan. Last month, that plan was finally adopted during what turned out to be the last meeting of the year. Under the plan, pirate ship-themed playground equipment will be put in that could be adjusted depending on the age of the kids using it. Also, a wraparound trail would increase the use of the park by as much as 70%. Th total costs of the work at Northside Park adds up to about $225,000. Meanwhile, phase one of work at Eleanor Park, which includes signs, a path, benches, and parking, is estimated at about $90,000. A concrete heart-shaped trail would tack on another $80,000. To help fund the projects, Colonial Beach plans to use a Virginia Land Conservancy fund grant.
