Changes Affect Striped Bass Regulations

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission has imposed new restrictions on the catch of Atlantic striped bass, effective May 1. Amid concerns over the species’ decline, anglers in the Chesapeake and its tributaries are now limited to one striper a day, within specific size limits. Commercial harvesters in Maryland and Virginia will also see a 7% reduction in their allowed catch. The measures aim to restore the species’ abundance.
