Buffer Talk Set For June 28th In Colonial Beach

The Northern Neck Master Gardener Shoreline Evaluation Program is hosting a presentation on riparian buffers on June 28 at St. Mary’s Church in Colonial Beach. These buffers play a crucial role in waterfront landscapes, serving as a natural defense against erosion and runoff. Many are unaware that these buffers are required for waterfront properties under the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. The presentation will highlight the importance of riparian buffers, activities permitted within them, and strategies for enhancing their effectiveness. Homeowners are encouraged to attend to learn how thoughtful landscaping can protect their properties and contribute to the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Registration is required for the free event.
