Billboards encourage hiring people with disabilities

Billboards have gone up across the state encouraging Virginia businesses to hire people with disabilities. The latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics shows only 21% of people with disabilities were employed last year, compared to 65% of people without a disability, according to Bob Lancaster, disability employment advocate with Virginia Disability. There are approximately 1.6 million people in the state with disabilities the billboards cost $63,000 they are expected to stay up through September. There of 22 of the billboards up around the state.
