‘All In Virginia’ Tutoring Program

October 6, 2023 by News Staff

Northumberland County Schools director of instruction Adam Letizia Letizia informed board members about the “All in Virginia” program for grades 3-8. The program is described as high-intensity academic tutoring and staff will begin working on incorporating the program into the school day. According to the Rappahannock Record, the need for the high-intensity tutoring stems from learning loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. One in two students are at risk of not meeting grade level expectations in grades 3-8 reading with two in three students at risk in mathematics. The program emphasizes high-dosage tutoring, offered five days per week over a sustained period. Letizia also noted a low tutor to student ratio will be in place to ensure success among students.
