ASHLAND, Va. (AP) – The two professors who are seeking the seat held by deposed House Majority Leader Eric Cantor are creating a political dilemma at their tiny Virginia college.
Students, professors and administrators at Randolph-Macon College say the two popular, highly respected figures on the Ashland campus have muddled traditional political allegiances.
Republican David Brat made political history Tuesday when he upset Cantor in a Republican primary. He’ll face fellow professor Jack Trammell, the Democratic nominee.
Both men get glowing grades about their intellectual vigor, their connection with students and even their playing style during intramural basketball games.
Either way the race goes, President Robert R. Lindgren says he’s hopeful all the attention will be good for the school of 1,300.
