The Virginia Employment Commission reports 120,000 residents quit their jobs in October. According to the Augusta Free Press the quits accounted for three-quarters of all job separations that month. 106,000 people quit their jobs in September. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Virginia has less than one unemployed person per two job openings, the lowest rate since the BLS began collecting data back in 2001. In October Virginia had 330,000 job openings.
