From NBC12 –
Virginia State Police have identified a pedestrian killed on Interstate 95 earlier this week as a New Kent man.
Jeremy D. Collins, 36, of Providence Forge was walking across one of the lanes of travel on I-95 south in Springfield on Monday night when he was struck and killed by a driver, according to State Police. Collins was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing when he was struck around 8:29 p.m Monday, troopers said.
Collins didn’t have any identification on him and was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for identification and an autopsy. The driver of the car, a 21-year-old from Fredericksburg, was taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital with minor injuries and will not face charges.
Police haven’t said why the man was walking on the interstate.
