    RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Virginia has awarded more than $2.2 million in hazard mitigation grants. The state Department of Emergency Management announced the funding Thursday from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The grants are for 14 properties in the communities of Chesapeake, Cleveland, Poquoson and Salem and one in Northumberland County.     A single vehicle accident in Essex County resulted in one fatality Saturday morning. Rebecca M. Tatum of Tappahannock, Va. was driving a 1993 Honda Accord north-bound on Pilkington Road when her vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. According to multiple media sources, police on the scene suggest that Ms. Tatum was not wearing a seat-belt and died at the scene.
