Skull Investigation Ongoing

The inves­ti­ga­tion con­tin­ues today into an inci­dent in which a human skull was found over this past week­end by a cou­ple of hik­ers in Glouces­ter County. It was reported Sat­ur­day morn­ing around 11 that the skull that was dis­cov­ered near Hayes, about a mile into the woods from the George Wash­ing­ton Memo­r­ial High­way. Inves­ti­ga­tors at the scene also dis­cov­ered addi­tional human bones and some cloth­ing. The remains were headed to the Med­ical Examiner’s office once the scene had been processed with the help of the Vir­ginia State Police Foren­sic Unit. It’s too soon to tell if the dis­cov­ery is linked to any known missing-person cases in the area.
