Another threat at Mathews High School, found to be not credible

Mathews High School has been evacuated today (Monday) following a possible threat, according to robo-calls from Mathews County Schools Superintendent  Nancy Welch.

Welch said that the administration was notified of a possible threat, but did not disclose the nature of the threat. Students and staff were transported to Thomas Hunter Middle school. Law enforcement investigated, but found the threat to not be credible. Students and staff have been returned to Mathews High School.

This is second such threat in two weeks. In late January, a similar threat was placed upon the school. That threat as well was found not credible, after an extensive search by Mathews Sheriff’s deputies and Virginia State Police.
